Introduction of java

Java is a object oriented programing Language developed by Sun Microsystems. Java was made to be small, simple and portable across platforms. The creator of java is Su Microsystems' chief programmer; James Gosling.Gosling liked the basic syntax nd object-oriented features of C++

Evolution For Java:-

Following table describes the evolution of java.

Year
Development
1990
Sun Microsystems developed software to manipulation electronic devices
1991
A new language called oak was introduced using C ++, the most popular object-oriented language. 1993
1993
The World Wide Web (WWW) appeared on the Internet which transformed the text-based Internet into a graphical Internet
1994
Sun Microsystems team developed a web browser called Hot java to locate and run applet programs on the internet.
1995
Oak was renamed as java.
1996
Java was established as an object-oriented programming language.

Characteristics of java :-

It  exhibits the following characteristics:
  • .       Simple
  • .       Object-oriented
  • .       Compile and interpreted
  • .       Portable
  • .       Distributed
  •         Secure
Simple:- A  java programming  does not  need to know the internal functioning of java, such as how memory is allocated  to data. In java, programming does not need to handle memory manipulation.

Object-oriented:- Java supports the object-oriented approach to develop program. It supports various feature of an object-oriented language, such as abstraction, encapsulation, inheritance, and polymorphism.

Compile and interpreted:-Java program are first compiled and then interpreted. While compiling the software checks for the errors in the program and lists all the errors on the screen. After you have made the program error free and have recompiled it. The compiler coverts the program to a byte code.

Portable:-Portability refers to the ability of a program to run on any platform without changing the source code of the program.

Distributed:- Java is used to develop applications that can be distributed among various computers on the networks.

Secure:- java has built in security features that verify that the program do not perform any destructive task, such as accessing the file on a remote system.

Object Oriented Programming

OOP is an approach that provide a way of  modular zing programs by creating partitioned  memory area for both data and functions that can be used as templates for creating copy of such modules on demand
